Kenza Lighting, Now there’s a Bright Idea!
Light not only illuminates but define one’s path, it makes us feel secure. It can change mood, hide or highlight an object, or liven up a space. Light never stands in isolation, it can only be seen through its impact on the object it falls on.
When thinking about lighting, first decide on how you want the room to feel, how much natural light come in during the day. The purpose of the room is also important when designing lighting, it can be a daunting process.
Lighting comes in three categories task, mood and decorative:-
Task Lighting
For specific tasks such as reading, writing, playing a musical instrument. Areas where we work, play and eat should be well lit. Some rooms are always dark, even during the day, in such rooms we can use spots light or floor lamps. There is nothing better than natural light, but , because of its dynamic nature we can make use of artificial light.
For any built mass, both indoor and outdoor spaces get affected by natural as well as artificial light. It is important to play in combination of natural and artificial light. It determines functionality of both space and style and décor of environment it creates. In homes, a thoughtful selection of lighting schemes enhances the aesthetics of interiors as well as garden spaces.
Mood Lighting
You can never have too much light in any one space, When designing for lights, dimmers are a must have. In addition, you need sufficient overall illumination so people can simply see where they’re going, and so they can feel secure. This general lighting is referred to as mood lighting, which is the overall lighting that permeates the entire room
Of course, it’s hard to separate the function of the lighting from the function of the room, and the two should work together. Lighting doesn’t just have to be functional of course, we can use it to model our room in different ways and at different times. The use of dimmers, spots and colour can all be brought into play. And when it’s done right can create a warm cosy space.
Decorative Lighting
We can let our hair down here and add a piece of sculpture with the bonus of providing light into the room. There’s a huge variety of these on the market and they can go from cheap to quite expensive.
These fall into two categories:-
Beautiful objects – sculptural, can be chosen to compliment the overall scheme of the the room, sculptural,
Lighting effect – these are pieces that create lighting effect i.e. contemporary crystal lighting which creates glittering effect these are now widely available.
A new source of lighting is LED, these come in various interesting shapes. They tend to be quite cheap to run and some will even allow you to change the colour of the light produced.
However, the function of a kitchen is very different; here, you need brighter ambient lighting, as well as task lighting for particular areas, such as the chopping board and the kitchen sink.
